LA-based illustrator, art director, environmental designer, photographer and type pornographer David Croy has finally found the perfect outlet for his lengthy, intelligent and damned funny bemusings on type, design and culture. Meet Dave’s fantastical blog, which, unlike 94% of blogs clogging the digital tubes, actually comes from a well-informed source.
David’s design work is, in a word, stunning. The built-work stuff alone makes us jealous to do something that physically engaging, simultaneously imaginative and tangible.
His latest bit of fun is the above Fuck Modernism type design, available in conveniently wearable t-shirt format at the David Shoppe.
What we really tune in to the blog for, though, is the commentary. A while ago, David found a stack of Fortune magazines from the 30s, a treasure chest of typography, culture and (whee!) racism. Endlessly interesting stuff. Other than that, The Dave Blog also features Tuesday Rants (even rantier than the other six days) and generally fantastic insights into our all-consuming culture. Definitely worth an above-the-fold spot on your iGoogle.
