A rebel optimist

It’s NRA time once again. And no, we don’t mean it’s time to swing our guns dangerously to and fro in the name of all that is, and forever will be, Chucky Heston. No, this is a different NRA.

Every year, the National Restaurant Association throws an international soirée in Chicago, filling McCormick Place with tens of thousands of food, beverage and hospitality folk. It’s called, simply, The NRA Show. And every year, The Marlin Network (of which Marlin is part) throws a lavish breakfast overlooking Lake Michigan at Shedd Aquarium for clients, friends and whoever else manages to sneak past the elephant seal exhibit.

Our theme this year was The Rebel Optimist. Which meant the invite was black, leather and badass in an appropriately hopeful way. More pics after the jump.

Black leather booklet. Embossed grinning skull and crossbones. Sweet custom bandana (and helpful tips on how to wear it). All this was just the beginning of the rebellion.

Invitees were also asked to go online to www.marlinnetworkrally.com to register, find out their biker moniker (mine was Chris “Peppy Skunk Smoke” Rock), see Marlin peeps in full biker regalia and even find out what kind of bike they belong on.

To all the Network peeps who worked on it, we have this to say:  second best use of leather ever. Fantastic work.
