Love this site, an effort by the Springfield-Greene County Library District and several organizations throughout the Ozarks to digitize Civil War-era documents from the region.
Incredibly, you can browse documents by county, theme (agriculture, home front, slavery, etc.) or battle. Links take you to scans of original documents housed in the Missouri Digital Heritage collections. Documents range from firsthand views of the violence, disease and heartbreak that scoured the Ozarks during the Civil War, to some guy who threw his back out in Springfield on August 13th, 1869. Worth the clickin’.
Local agency Schilling/Sellmeyer & Associates created the site. Nicely done.
