Really, what better way to inaugurate our new blog design than by featuring the album art from Yngwie Malmsteen’s groundbreaking 1986 classical-hair-metal opus, “Trilogy”? (Produced in honor of the murdered Swedish Prime Minister??)
The new design, courtesy of Marlin design intern Jared Tomlinson and designer Quentin Brown, provides plenty of room for stunning visuals like, say, a man shooting flames from his guitar at a three-headed dragon. Or even a painting of said.
The new NOTCH is also a little cleaner, at least design-wise, and a little closer to our official digital cousinĀ marlinco.com, while still delivering all the wonder and joy you’ve come to expect from a blog named Notchweiner.
Plus, Yngwie has been good to us. In the two years since we started Notchweiner, the most-visited page by a long shot has been our Yngwie Malmsteen Tour Wardrobe Drinking Game, featuring photos of the rapidly aging/swelling guitarist in the exact same outfit over two decades. No other post comes close.
We can’t tell if it’s because Yngwie is just that popular, or if a legion of drunken frat boys are endlessly googling “drinking game” and ending up at our site, pissed at its utter lack of beer pong.
Regardless, we hope you enjoy the new design. And we hope Yngwie takes the hint. (Update, baby. Update.)
SPEAKING OF UPDATES: A quick addition here of the most awesome, dragon-fightingest Yngwie video ever made, courtesy of Patrick. You, sir, rock.

Great job guys!!! I think the update is awesome, but the mascot (Yngwie) stellar. Congrats.
i always think of Yahoo Serious from “Young Einstein” when i hear of Yngwie Malmsteen.
Random, i know, but if you take the rocker’s name and marry it up with Yahoo’s picture…
