Jared Tomlinson (formerly Jared Tomlinson, Designer) is now known as Jared Tomlinson, Jr. Art Director. It’s a much longer (and thus much fancier) title and he’s earned every character of it. He’s got the new business card and everything. Very official. His hard work and dedication to doing all things great more than earned him the promotion. (Some say his contribution of candy-coated bacon to the Marlin Holiday Potluck didn’t hurt his chances either.) Mmmm, bacon.

But not in the scary, going-to-take-over-the-world-in-the-name-of-Skynet kind of way. Former intern Adam Bowlin has returned to us after a year-long stint at VSA in Chicago. And we couldn’t be happier. Okay, maybe we could be a little bit happier. But we’re still pretty stinkin’ excited. Welcome back, Adam.

We’re thrilled to announce the former intern Sarah Baldwin has joined Marlin full-time as a designer. She’s done a fantastic job keeping up with a demanding schedule and some quick deadlines, all while producing some truly great beer…er, work. Yes, delicious, cold, frosty, home-brewed work. We couldn’t be happier to have you as a full-fledged Marlinite, Sarah. Welcome to the team.

Marlin is happy to welcome a brand new Marlinite to the Marlin family. Marlin. Gary spent the bulk of his career in Integrated Marketing Communications and has had senior level positions on both the agency and client sides of the business. He’s worked at JWT, SAATCHI and DDB on several Fortune 500 brands including; Quaker, Kraft, Kellogg, Proctor & Gamble, JC Penney, and Sears. He also worked as VP Global Advertising for Polaroid and Campbell Soup. A Detroit native and graduate of Michigan State University (the other MSU), Gary has lived most of his adult life in Chicago with stops along the way in Boston, Philadelphia, New York, and London. His interests include: tennis, fashion (he buys his wife’s cloths), and Detroit muscle cars from the 60′s (he owns a 65’ Mustang Fastback 2+2 (yeah, we’re jealous too). He’s also a big sailor and kayaker and is pretty anxious to get out on the lakes of MO. Have fun, Gary!
Oh, and welcome.

Why keep the little one’s creativity limited to the front of the refrigerator? Incredibly fun to watch the interactive evolution of a stark white room into a work of art as thousands of children plaster it with a near infinite amount of colorful stickers. Check out artist Yayoi Kusama’s work here >

A little inter-office rivalry turned into full-on column decorating blowout here at Marlin this holiday season. Teams were created to deck the poles with the best (and worst) seasonal adornments scavenged from attics, closets, flea markets and dumpsters. The results weren’t too shabby, if we say so ourselves. Hopefully we’ll get around to taking stuff down before Memorial Day.

Here’s a bit of seasonal silliness. This year’s agency wishes are captured by Mr. Naughty and Mr. Nice. Take a couple minutes to get a kick out of their take on the holidays. Enjoy!
